QPR vs Preston Predictions
Ramsey was sacked in midweek after the 1-0 defeat at Derby which left them in the bottom half of the Championship. Rangers are unlikely to have a new manager in place for the game as they look to avoid a 3rd straight defeat.
In the early days of the season QPR were a big threat going forward but very shaky at the back as they were throughout their disappointing season in the top flight. Ramsey appeared to have at least improved the defence somewhat but they haven’t looked as impressive in the final third in recent games and have failed to score in 3 of their last 4.
Newly promoted Preston have clocked up an incredible 5 consecutive clean sheets after a poor start to the campaign. Lewis McGugan’s goal for Sheffield Wednesday over a month ago was the last they conceded. The Lancashire side are still struggling for goals themselves though and have the second worst goalscoring record in the league and 3 of those 5 clean sheets have come in 0-0 draws.
Therefore with both sides struggling for goals, backing at least one of them to fail to find the back of the net looks a sensible strategy here and you can back that to be the case at 5/6.
It is hard to tell how QPR will react to the loss of their manager. There is still certainly some quality in their side and they should be doing better. At home though they are unbeaten in 4 matches and beat another of the newly promoted sides MK Dons 3-0 in their last game at Loftus Road.
They are still above Preston in the league and have the superior quality. A 6th consecutive clean sheet might be a bridge too far for Preston and a 1-0 home win looks decent value at 6/1.
