Queen Of The South vs Rangers Predictions

Queen of the South come into this game in a decent 4th position in the Scottish Championship, but they have little chance of making the top three, but if they hold off 5th placed Raith Rovers they are in with a great chance of making the promotion playoffs this season. Their season has been plagued by inconsistency though. Queen of the South have only secured back to back victories once since August and have really struggled to generate any momentum. Their home form is decent though, and they come into this match having not lost any of their last five home games, with three wins. All of these wins came against relegation threatened teams though.

Rangers are in no doubt about where they want to be next season. They have built up an eight point lead at the top of the Scottish Championship and don’t plan on having to go through the promotion playoffs again like last season. The visitors have only lost two matches in the entire season, and both of those came against fellow impressive outfits Hibernian and Falkirk. Rangers are by far the top scorers in the Championship this season with 66 goals from their 24 matches, and they also hold the joint best defensive record having shipped just 17 times this season.

      Reasons for Betting Tips

Rangers have shifted their focus recently. Earlier in the season they were hammering teams by four of five goals, but recently they have started focusing on keeping clean sheets and getting comfortable wins. This has resulted in quite an increase in clean sheets on Rangers side, with four of their last six outings seeing them stop the opposition from scoring.

This won’t make for good reading for Queen of the South fans, because their team have only netted 14 times on home turf this season and are the 3rd lowest scorers in the Championship. But their defence is looking pretty good as well, so I’m not expecting a thrashing by Rangers in this one. Especially considering that the league leaders’ top scorer Martyn Waghorn has been ruled out.

      Recent Form

      All competitions; most recent first

      Queen of the South: WLWLWLD

      Rangers: WDDWWWW

      Head to Head

Rangers, as you would expect, have had the beating of Queen of the South in the majority of cases. They haven’t lost to the visitors in any of their last four meetings and have won three of those games. Away from home Rangers have won five and lost two of their seven trips to Queen of the South.

      Statistics

Rangers have kept a clean sheet in 46% of their games so far this season, but since their shift in playing mentality that statistic has risen considerably. Queen of the South have failed to score in over a third of their league games this season as well.

      Team News

Queen of the South – The hosts are looking good in terms of injuries at the moment, with no details of any casualties being released.

Rangers – A big miss for the visitors will be top scorer Martyn Waghorn, who has been ruled out for up to eight weeks with a knee injury. Other than that it seems that Rangers have a clean bill of health.
