Racing Club vs San Martin De San Juan Predictions
Monday’s Superliga Argentina action sees league leaders Racing Club doing battle with the relegation threatened San Martin de San Juan. It’s expected to be a comfortable evening for the hosts.
Racing have certainly proved they are the team to beat in this year’s Superliga and holding a 6 point lead at the top, they’re now favourites to go on and win the title. La Academia have quality all over the pitch and boss Eduardo Coudet has the team playing some fantastic football, evidenced by the fact they are the second highest scorers in the division and have taken 33 points from 14 games.
A 3-1 win away at Talleres last time via an excellent showing has spirits sky high in Racing ranks and means they’re now unbeaten in 5 matches; 4 of which wins. Also unbeaten in front of the home crowd all season whilst winning 5 of the 7 games contested in the process, the hosts arrive for Monday’s game fully confident in their ability to win the game.
Meanwhile, visiting San Martin find themselves in huge danger of being relegated and are set to be involved in a scrap that will go right down to the wire. Only outside of the drop zone on the average points table due to the fact they’ve played a game less than Belgrano, El Verdinegro need to start picking up points sooner rather than later to ensure they don’t finish the campaign as a B Nacional outfit.
A crucial 2-0 home win over Union de Santa Fe last time out marked a good start to that aim but overall, the visitors have been highly underwhelming in the action we’ve seen so far, losing 7 of their 13 matches and currently standing 19th. Now facing a trip to the strongest team in the league, with several regular starters out suspended, it’s fair to say, San Martin look like having their work cut out on Monday.
Ultimately, you can only see this match going one way and that’s a Racing win. Man for man, they are a far more powerful, stronger outfit than San Martin and if they play to their maximum ability, they’ll win the game at a canter.
That’s something reflected in the odds on offer on the full time line but great value looks set to be found when backing the home win in combination with over 2.5 goals. Considering they’ve scored in 4 of their last 6 away matches, including at the likes of River and San Lorenzo, we do believe San Martin can notch in the Cilindro but Racing’s firepower is likely to be far too much for them and we think the hosts will run out 4-1 winners in a game that certainly has the potential for goals; albeit mainly in only one of the teams’ net.
