Racing FC Union vs Breidablik Predictions
- Racing Union are making their European debut this week.
- Breidablik have won three of their last four games, scoring 11 goals in the process.
- Breidablik’s last two away wins have both been 3-2 scorelines.
High-flying Blikar can return with advantage
Racing Union make their European debut on Thursday when the team from Luxembourg face Iceland’s Breidablik in a qualifying tie for the new Europa Conference League.
Racing finished fourth in their domestic championship last season, winning 17 of their 30 matches and drawing just three. Five of their ten total defeats were at home, although this match has been switched to the national stadium anyway.
Their squad is made up mainly of French, Belgians and Africans – with a few local talents – but they lost right-back Benoît Nyssen to Belgian third division side RFC Liege this summer.
Their visitors from Kopavogur shared the costs of a small charter flight with title rivals Valur and arrived in good shape for this contest, having won their weekend league game 4-0.
Blikar moved up to second spot with that victory and are vastly more experienced at this level, having appeared in the Europa League qualifying rounds in three of the past five seasons.
They have no injury problems and are scoring goals – although 28 of their 38 this season came on home turf.
Breidablik can return from Luxembourg with a first-leg lead and are an attractive price to do so while we predict a 3-2 success – the same result they achieved in their last two away wins.
