      Racing vs Bolivar Predictions

The Argentines saw off Mexican side Puebla to reach the group stage but have made a poor start to their domestic season. They have taken just 2 points from their opening 4 league games although did pick up a solid 1-1 draw at Independiente last weekend. They were Libertadores Quarter-Finalists last season and progressed from their group as winners before exiting in the last 8 to Guarani, the side who’d finished runners up in their group.

Bolivar are playing in the competition for the first time since 2014 when they enjoyed a historic run to the Semi-Finals beating Argentine and Brazilian opposition along the way before ultimately losing out to eventual winners San Lorenzo in the Semi-Finals. It was as far as any Bolivian side has ever made it in the Libertadores and they’ll be looking forward to having another crack at the competition this term.

Their league season has started pretty well with 11 points from 6 games, most of which were against some of the league’s stronger clubs. They are 2nd in the Bolivian top flight so will come into the match with more confidence than their opponents.

      Reason for Betting Tips

Racing are as short as 2/9 to win this which seems ridiculous given their poor form and the fact that Bolivar were Semi-Finalists just 2 years ago. Bolivian sides and particularly those from La Paz tend to struggle badly on the road in continental competitions but the Strongest were shock winners in Sao Paulo only last week and Bolivar avoided defeat in 4 of their 6 Libertadores away matches in 2014 which included draws away to Flamengo and Lanus. They are playing pretty well now and have already picked up league draws away to the Strongest and leaders Wilstermann this season so backing Bolivar +2 Goal Handicap at Evens is surely a solid bet here.
