Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

The Gers won 4-2 against lower league Alloa in the cup at the weekend, the sixth time in their last seven matches that both teams have scored. While they’ve kept clean sheets in their first two European qualifiers at Ibrox under Martin, they’ve conceded plenty of chances in both. Brugge have scored in all seven games they’ve played this term, while their first four league games have seen them create 7.1 Expected Goals, while conceding 4.8.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Rangers have won 2-0 and 3-0 in their first two home games in the Champions League this term. However, the Gers conceded plenty of chances in both matches, while they meet a Club Brugge side who scored four times across their two meetings with Salzburg in the last round. These two sides met in a preseason friendly in July, which finished 2-2.

Rangers vs Club Brugge Predictions

  • Rangers have seen BTTS in six of their last seven matches
  • Club Brugge have generated 7.1 xG in four league games, but they’ve conceded 4.8
  • The visitors have scored in all seven games they’ve played so far across all competitions

Final hurdle for Gers

Russell Martin has been thrown in the deep end at Ibrox, with the new Rangers manager facing a key clash against Club Brugge in the final round of Champions League qualifying.

Making the League Phase of Europe’s top competition would be a game-changer for Rangers, while it would ease some of the early pressure on Martin, who has already seen his side fall four points behind Celtic after two games.

Martin has got his point across in terms of possession-heavy football, but there are familiar defensive issues from his time at Southampton last season. After a 4-2 win over Alloa on Saturday, six of the Gers’ previous seven have featured both teams scoring.

Club Brugge have scored in all seven of their games this season, while they’ve created 7.1 Expected Goals across their first four league matches. However, the Belgian side are also vulnerable at the back, having beaten Salzburg 3-2 in Tuesday’s second leg.

Goals should be on the cards here, while a repeat of the 2-2 draw they shared in a July friendly is the standout correct score option.
