We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Reading 2-1 @ 15/2

Reason For Reading vs Hull City Predictions

  • Over 2.5 goals have been scored in 5 of the last 7 meetings between these two clubs.
  • Over 2.5 goals have been scored in 4 of Hull’s last 6 matches.
  • Reading have won 6 league games at home this season.
  • Hull have lost 5 times on the road.

Reading would leapfrog their guests with a win this weekend

Reading secured a point courtesy of a 1-1 draw away at Cardiff last weekend while Hull were thrashed 5-1 at home by Brentford, meaning the gap between the two clubs was reduced to just a point ahead of Saturday’s clash. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the last seven encounters between Reading and Hull and four of the visitors’ last six matches have also produced at least three goals, so you can see why we have backed over 2.5 goals to be scored on Saturday.

Reading have won six times at home this season and Hull have already lost five times on the road, with the hosts’ home matches producing an average of 2.64 total goals and the visitors’ away games producing an average of 2.71 total goals, adding weight to our prediction for over 2.5 goals to be scored this weekend.

Hull are on the verge of a sixth straight defeat in all competitions

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in 57% of Reading’s home games as well as in 64% of Hull’s away matches, with both teams scoring in 57% of the visitors’ trips on the road, which backs up our prediction for a 2-1 final scoreline on Saturday. Reading have only kept clean sheets in 36% of their home games and Hull have only failed to score in 21% of their away games, another reason we have backed both teams to score this weekend.

Exactly 3-goals have been scored in 36% of Reading’s home games in the Championship this season while the same can be said for 43% of Hull’s away games, all of which suggests that a 2-1 final scoreline could well be on the cards. Four of Reading’s wins in the league have been obtained via a margin of 1-goal while a majority of Hull’s defeats in the Championship (7) have been by a 1-goal margin, and we have backed a narrow 2-1 win for the hosts this weekend.

We’re confident that over 2.5 goals will be produced in Saturday’s match and we have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Reading. Both teams could do with a win but Reading head into the match playing the better football and with a better defensive record in recent weeks. Hull have been conceding goals on a regular basis and have scored more than once in any of their last five outings, while Reading have only conceded more than once in one of their last six matches.
