      Reading vs Ipswich Predictions

The whole market for this game seems a little off. Reading finished 13 places and 28 points below Ipswich last season and it is the Tractor Boys who have made the better start to this campaign also, given they head into the game in 3rd place, with the knowledge that 3 points can see them move back to the top of the table. Yet despite that Reading are quite firm favourites for the win at 11/10, which is surprising given Ipswich have been consistent performers under Mick McCarthy for some time now and their top six standing is certainly no fluke.

Reading’s only league win so far this season came last time out at Brentford, who aren’t looking anywhere near as good as they were last term. Orlando Sa and Nick Blackman got the goals but there are doubts about both as a long-term solution to Reading’s goalscoring problems. The Portuguese striker, who broke his duck for the club in the win, was a flop in English football during his previous spell at Fulham. Meanwhile Blackman has scored just 7 league goals in the last two seasons for Reading although has started this one brightly.

The Berkshire outfit won just 8 home games out of 23 in the league last term, which was one reason why they went close to the drop and they are yet to score in the league at the Madejski this season with 0-0 draws against Leeds and MK Dons all they have to show for their efforts at home.

Ipswich possess a bit more potency that those two clubs going forward and therefore will fancy their chances of coming away from Reading with all the points. Confidence should still be high despite a 3-2 loss in the top of the table clash with Brighton last time out. They had won five in a row prior to that and you can back them to get back to winning ways at 5/2, which looks like fantastic value.

The East Anglia club have scored 2 goals or more in every game they’ve played this season and there is no reason to think they won’t be able to do that again here so backing Ipswich to win 2-0 at huge odds of 16/1 might be worth a Friday night flutter.
