Reason For Reading vs Swansea City Predictions

  • Reading have won only one of their last 13 home games, losing six of their last ten
  • Swansea have lost only four of their 22 away league games this season
  • The Swans have kept only one clean sheet in their last seven matches

Reading look there for the taking

Reading have suffered consecutive league defeats against Middlesbrough and Blackburn and may finish the season with another loss at home to Swansea.

Only relegation-threatened Hull have picked up fewer points at home this season than Reading, who have collected 25 points from their 22 league games.

Since the restart in mid-June, Reading have been held to draws at home to Stoke and Huddersfield and suffered defeats against Brentford and Middlesbrough.

Mark Bowen’s side have won only one of their last 13 home games, losing six of their last ten outings, with their sole victory coming against a relegation-threatened Barnsley.

The Royals were beaten 4-3 at Blackburn on Saturday but scored with their only three shots on target and more is needed against a Swansea side who still have an outside chance of pinching a playoff place.

Swans can finish season on a high

It’s a longshot, but Swansea still have an outside chance of pinching a playoff place but must claim maximum points at the Madejski while hoping Welsh rivals Cardiff lose hosting Hull.

The Swans have won three of their last five games to keep their playoff hopes alive, with Connor Roberts’s strike helping them to a 1-0 win at home to Bristol City last time out.

With wins over Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham within the last month too, Swansea have done a good job at overcoming opposition they are expected to beat and Reading’s lack of motivation makes this another winnable opportunity.

Steve Cooper’s side have lost only four of their 22 away league games this season, with only Nottingham Forest suffering fewer road defeats.

The Swans have lost just two of their eight games since the restart, one of which came against champions Leeds, and they should be full of confidence in bolstering that record here.

Clean sheet unlikely for Swansea

The Swans have kept only one clean sheet in their last seven matches and with 60 goals scored across their 22 away games, this is a clash that should be full of entertainment.

Both teams have scored in six of Swansea’s last eight away assignments and it was a 1-1 draw when these two sides locked horns at the Liberty Stadium in September.

With ten goals scored in their last five league games, Reading evidently carry an attacking threat with George Puscas and Yakou Meite in attack and we predict them to get on the scoresheet.

Reading have scored in three of their last four defeats, two of which ended 2-1 and our prediction is the playoff-seeking Swans to win by that scoreline.
