Real Madrid to Win

Reason for tip

Chelsea have won just one of their last 12 competitive away games and have lost eight of those. They have failed to score in three of their last four games and face a Real Madrid side that have scored 12 goals in their last four home matches.

Real Madrid 3-0

Reason for tip

Real Madrid have averaged three goals-per-game over the last four home matches and have kept a clean sheet in two of those. Chelsea have lost to nil in three of their last four trips and have only won one of their last 12 on the road.

Karim Benzema To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Karim Benzema has scored two hat-tricks in his last three outings for Real Madrid and has a fantastic record against Chelsea, scoring five goals in his last four appearances against them.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Predictions

  • Chelsea have won just one of their last 12 competitive away games, losing eight of them.
  • Real Madrid have scored 12 goals in their last four home games.
  • Karim Benzema has five goals in his last four appearances against Chelsea.

Lampard homecoming off to shaky start

Chelsea entered the second era of Frank Lampard on Saturday as they were beaten at Wolves and the former playing legend is likely to be on the wrong end of defeat when he takes the Blues to Madrid on Wednesday.

That defeat stretched Chelsea’s winless streak to four matches in all competitions and they have now gone three matches without a goal, which won’t exactly fill fans with confidence as they come up against a home side who have scored 12 goals in their last three games.

Free-scoring Madrid to punish Blues

Real Madrid also lost at the weekend as Villarreal twice came from behind to win a five-goal thriller but there is no denying Los Blancos are firm favourites against this out-of-form Chelsea side.

They blew Liverpool away in the first knockout round, beating them 6-2 on aggregate, and have a phenomenal goalscoring record bolstered by the insatiable form of Karim Benzema.

Benzema backed to continue fine form

The Frenchman has scored two hat-tricks in his last three appearances to take his tally to 24 goals for the season, and he looks a likely anytime goalscorer contender after scoring five goals in his last four appearances against Chelsea.

All being said, a Real Madrid win looks good value for money considering Chelsea’s struggles. The visitors have won just one of their last 12 competitive away games and have lost eight of those, failing to score in their last three defeats.

Los Blancos have scored 12 goals in their last four home games and have won to nil twice, so I’m backing a home win alongside a 3-0 correct score prediction.
