      Real Madrid vs Malmo Predictions

Despite racing into a 4-0 lead against Getafe at the weekend, there was still a real air of disgruntlement on the terraces. Following a catalogue of PR disasters over the past few months, culminating in the side’s expulsion from the Copa del Rey for fielding an ineligible player, there were loud calls for the resignation of club President Florentino Perez.

This game represents another where you sense Real Madrid are on a bit of a hiding to nothing. They’ve already won their group and should get a winnable last 16 tie but will be eager to avoid any embarrassment here against what in truth is a poor Malmo side.

The Swedes were thumped 5-0 at home by PSG last time out and have only scored 1 goal in their 5 group stage matches so far, conceding 13 times. They are bottom of the group but if they can better Shakhtar Donetsk’s result at PSG, they will move into 3rd place and the Europa League in New Year.

That though is a tall order even if Real Madrid do make several changes as is expected. Rafa Benitez has though already indicated that he won’t be using youngsters like 16 year old wonderkid Martin Ødegaard and he won’t want to risk another humiliating result on home soil so it will still be quite an experienced side that he names and Malmo are still likely to be outclassed.

Los Blancos will dominate the ball and it is hard to see Malmo creating much so backing a home win to nil looks like a safe bet at 8/11.

Going forward they might not be at full pelt but this is another opportunity for the likes of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema to get some game time as they come back to full fitness and a 4-0 home win shouldn’t be beyond them and you can back that to be the case at 13/2.
