Sociedad test for Mourinho’s first home game

Jose Mourinho saw his Real Madrid side win his first game of his second spell in charge at Espanyol over the weekend and they will be looking to make it six points from two games when Real Sociedad visit the Bernabeu.

Sociedad went down 1-0 at Real Betis in their own opener but they did create a few chances in that defeat, and the best angle here looks to be backing Los Blancos to win and concede.

Real Madrid won both meetings with La Real last season but conceded in both games. Mourinho’s side were worthy winners at Espanyol despite needing a late debut strike from Carlos Espi to claim maximum points, but they did give up a few chances and Sociedad have enough attacking quality to get on the scoresheet in defeat in the Spanish capital.

Sociedad have conceded at least twice in each of their last four meetings with Real Madrid and have shipped 12 in total across that period. The hosts may win a little more convincingly than they did in Barcelona at the weekend and a 3-1 Madrid win seems a reasonable correct score prediction.

Kylian Mbappe wasn’t among the Real Madrid scorers at the weekend but it wasn’t for lack of effort. The Frenchman had 10 shots at Espanyol and he should be able to get off the mark for the season against Sociedad.
