Barca primed to land title spoils

El Clasico is a notoriously big occasion and it will be all the bigger for Barcelona as they bid to secure the La Liga title with a home victory over arch rivals Real Madrid.

The Catalan giants are 11 points clear of Real Madrid with only four games to play, so a draw at Camp Nou will be enough to seal their fate, but they should be eyeing maximum reward.

Hansi Flick’s side have won 13 of their last 15 matches since the middle of February, only suffering defeat when having ten men in the first leg of their Champions League exit to Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona have won ten successive matches in La Liga and they have been utterly irresistible on home soil, where they are a perfect 17 from 17.

Real have every right to be fearing the worst

It is a must-win for Real but they have been wildly inconsistent since the start of April, losing home and away to Bayern Munich in the quarter-final of the Champions League and dropping points in three of their last five league assignments.

Barca edged past Los Blancos 3-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final in January, avenging October’s 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture at the Bernabeu.

But, at home, Barcelona should be fancied to come out on top and a high-scoring clash looks assured given the quality on show. Both teams have scored in nine of the last ten meetings and this can follow suit.

Taking Barcelona to win 2-1 may be the way to go. The Catalan giants have kept only three clean sheets in their last 11 outings and three of their last six victories ended that way.

Twelve games have passed since Real last fired a blank and both teams have scored in ten of those matches.
