Straightforward afternoon in store for Sociedad

Real Sociedad are up to third in La Liga after their battling 3-2 victory at Granada in midweek and Los Txuri-Urdin can enjoy a more comfortable afternoon when they entertain Elche at Anoeta on Matchday 7.

Los Txuri-Urdin showed a lot of class and character to take all three points at Los Carmenes on Thursday evening despite a number of key absentees, including star striker Alexander Isak who is side lined until the start of October at the earliest with a hamstring problem.

It was defender Aritz Elustondo who stepped up to the mark with a double salvo against Nazaries, and Imanol Alguacil’s charges look well equipped to deal with their injury list over the coming weeks.

Sociedad are now unbeaten in six across all competitions, winning four, and they also managed to keep four La Liga clean sheets on the spin prior to their midweek trip to Andalusia.

They beat Elche without conceding in both league meetings last term and we can only envisage the same outcome at Anoeta this Sunday, with the visitors winning just one of their six league matches this season (D3, L2).

Elche have managed to net in their last four outings, but Los Franjiverdes’ forwards face a very difficult 90 minutes here and we think they’ll come up short in a 2-0 defeat.
