Struggling Auxerre to fall short on the road

Rennes should be backed to beat out-of-form Auxerre at home in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Rennes are tenth in Ligue 1, six places and four points above Auxerre, having won two, drawn four and lost one of their seven games this season. In the 15 games between teams in the bottom half of the table, seven (47%) have been home wins.

Rennes have been in excellent form at home, winning four of their last five Ligue 1 games.

The visitors are finding it hard to score – Auxerre are on a run of two Ligue 1 away defeats without scoring.

Auxerre’s away form is a major concern. They have lost five of their last six games on the road in Ligue 1, including their last four, and have failed to win any of their last eight matches overall.

Rennes are in form, having lost just one of their last seven league matches and remaining unbeaten in their three home games this season.

They have been solid at the back, keeping three clean sheets in four home games in Ligue 1.

At least one of these sides has failed to find the net in five of the last six Ligue 1 head-to-head clashes, and a 1-0 win for Rennes looks like the most likely correct-score outcome.
