Rennes to Win

Reason for tip

Rennes have won two and drawn one of their three home Ligue 1 games this season. They could be catching Monaco at the right time after Adi Hutter’s side played a tough away Champions League fixture on an energy-sapping pitch in midweek.

Rennes 2-1

Reason for tip

Rennes have scored two or more goals in seven of  their last 11 home league games and average 2.33 per home game this season. They can topple a tired Monaco side that shipped two in Zagreb on Wednesday, although Hutter’s side usually score on their travels.

Monaco may come unstuck in Brittany

Monaco’s unbeaten run could come to an end at Rennes on Saturday when one of the best way teams in France head to one of the toughest places to take points.

Adi Hutter’s side battled back from two goals down to claim a valuable Champions League away point in Zagreb on Wednesday in a match that was played out during constant rain and on an increasingly soggy surface.

Running around for 90 minutes on that pitch will probably have taken a lot out of Hutter’s players, so changes will be expected at Roazhon Park.

Home form the key for Rennes

Rennes have had a week to dissect what went wrong when they lost 3-1 at Paris Saint-Germain last Friday.  Guy Stephan’s side were too slow out of the blocks and were punished by a ruthless PSG side.

They have been good at home this season, beating both Lyon and Montpellier 3-0 before a stoppage-time leveller denied them another victory against Lens. Les Rouges et Noir can capitalise on any fatigue in the Monaco camp and grab three points in this fixture.

Les Monagasques showed signs of running out of steam at home to Montpellier before they took on Dinamo and may struggle to maintain their excellent recent away sequence of wins at Lyon and Auxerre.
