Rennes Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

Rennes have only lost two of their last seven home meetings with PSG, who were far from their fluent best in last weekend’s Trophee des Champions defeat to Lens and may be unsettled after this match was switched from their Parc des Princes home at late notice.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

Rennes have a good record when facing PSG on home soil and they can avoid defeat, but it is difficult to back fully against the reigning champions, bringing a 1-1 correct score into play. It is also worth noting that PSG have conceded exactly once in their two games this season against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup and Lens in the Trophee des Champions.

      Rennes vs PSG Predictions

      • Rennes claimed a 3-1 victory in last season’s corresponding fixture
      • PSG have been crowned Ligue 1 champions in each of the last five seasons
      • The Parisians lost 1-0 to Lens in last week’s Trophee des Champions

Change of venue may unsettle reigning champions

Paris Saint-Germain are bidding to be crowned Ligue 1 champions for the sixth year in a row this season but they may face an early setback when they travel to Rennes for a fixture that was originally due to take place at the Parc des Princes.

The match has been moved due to problems with PSG’s pitch and that makes this league opener appear even trickier for Luis Enrique’s side, who were beaten 3-1 on their last visit to Roazhon Park in February.

This will be the Parisians’ third match of the campaign and although they managed to edge past Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, they were beaten 1-0 in the Trophee des Champions by Lens despite their opponents playing over half the match with ten men.

      Rennes have previous against PSG

Rennes finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season, narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification after winning nine of their final 13 games, and their home form was particularly strong, as they lost just three of their 17 league fixtures at Roazhon Park.

That impressive home record includes the 3-1 win over PSG and Rennes have avoided defeat in five of their last seven meetings with the Parisians on home soil.

Franck Haise has won eight of his 12 matches since taking charge in February and he can help Rennes to another positive result on Sunday.
