Rennes to end Champions League foray on low note

Rennes’ maiden Champions League campaign couldn’t have gone much worse so far. They have picked up just one point from their opening five games and find themselves rooted to the bottom of Group E with no hope of improving.

It’s not just the Champions League where they’ve struggled either, with Les Rennais’ 2-0 defeat at home to Lens on Saturday making it six defeats and one draw from their last seven competitive games.

Their downturn in form coincided with the start of the Champions League. They have picked up just one win in 11 since their Group Stage opener against Krasnodar, so they’ll be glad to see the back of continental football so they can focus on halting their domestic slide.

Sevilla are expected to rotate their squad now that their second place standing is confirmed, but they should still be able to end the Group Stage on a high when they face this Rennes team.
