Nigeria can secure progress

Nigeria produced a stunning 3-2 win over tournament co-hosts Australia last time out and can make sure they finish as Group B winners by seeing off Ireland.

The African nation have four points from two tough games against Canada and the Matildas, and on paper this game with Ireland should be their easiest assignment.

Ireland are simply playing for pride after two losses left them unable to qualify and they have now lost five of their last six games.

Ireland can strike in defeat

Nigeria had managed three clean sheets in four games prior to conceding two against Australia but Ireland may be good for a goal here.

A Nigeria win should be expected and is our main bet as they are the form side and have a target to play for, but Ireland managed to score against a strong Canada outfit and will want to make their mark on their final tournament game.

Vera Pauw’s side may have lost five of their last six games but they have faced some tough opponents during that run, including the Matildas, France and the USA (twice) and only two of those losses have been by more than one goal.

As such, a 2-1 win for Nigeria looks a reasonable correct score prediction and Uchenna Kanu is a contender for a goal at anytime after a strong performance against Australia.

Kanu made a brief appearance as a substitute against Canada but was handed a start last time out and scored her side’s opener, so back her to follow that up with another key strike.
