Rio Ave or Sporting Lisbon Double Chance @ 4/11

We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Rio Ave 2-1 @ 9/1

Reason For Rio Ave vs Sporting Lisbon Predictions

  • Rio Ave have won 4 of their last 6 matches in all competitions.
  • Sporting have won 3 and lost 3 of their last 6 matches in league and cup.
  • Both teams scored and over 2.5 goals were produced in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two clubs.
  • Rio Ave have won 4 of their home games and Sporting have won 5 of their away games in the Primeira Liga.

Rio Ave have the home advantage and form in their favour

Rio Ave thrashed Aves 4-0 away last weekend while Sporting just did enough to beat Portimonense 2-1 at home, meaning the gap between the two clubs heading into Saturday’s clash remains at 3pts. Rio Ave head into this weekends’ clash as the form favourites having won four, draws one and lost one of their last six matches, while Sporting have been hit and miss of late with three wins and three defeats from their last six outings.

Rio Ave have surprised many with their performance so far this season, as they remain in the race for the European places, thanks largely to their consistency both at home and on the road. Saturday’s hosts have won their last two matches against Sporting, with Sporting winning the previous five before that, and four of the duos’ last five encounters have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals.

The hosts have won four and lost three at home this season while the visitors have won five and lost three of their ten away games, so you can see why we have backed a double chance bet on the home or the away win this weekend. Aves average 1.50 points per home game while Sporting average 1.70 points per away game, which ties in well with our prediction for either side to win on Saturday.

Sporting have been as good as they have bad of late so this game could go either way

Rio Ave score an average of 1.50 goals per home game and concede 1.10 goals, which is why we have backed a final scoreline of 2-1 in favour of the hosts this weekend. The hosts’ home matches produce an average of 2.60 total goals as do the visitors’ away games, and we have backed over 2.5 goals t be scored on Saturday. Both teams have scored in half of Rio Ave’s home games and 60% of Sporting’s away games, adding further weight to our prediction for a 2-1 final score.

The hosts have only kept clean sheets in 30% of their home games but have only failed to score in 20% while Sporting have only managed to keep their opponents out in 20% of their away games and have failed to score in just 205 as well, further backing our prediction fo for there to be goals in this game for both clubs.

A majority of Rio Ave’s wins this season (5) have been obtained with a 1-goal margin as have a majority of Sporting’s defeats (5), and we have backed a narrow 1-goal winning margin this weekend as well. We’re confident that a double chance bet on the home or the away win is the best way to go this weekend and we have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 in Rio Ave’s favour. The hosts edge the form guide and look more consistent than their guests heading into Saturday’s clash which is why ew have backed them to win 2-1, but this game feels like it could go either way as Sporting have been hit and miss of late and that is why we have backed a double chance bet.
