Rochdale vs Coventry Predictions

  • Rochdale conceded at least 1 goal in 71% of their home matches.
  • Coventry City have won their last 4 matches.
  • Coventry City have been undefeated in their last 10 matches.
  • Coventry City have been undefeated in their last 6 away matches.

An inconsistent host

It has been a stormy time for Rochdale as, due to the recent bad weather, they have not played since they were soundly beaten 3-0 by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday 11 February. The defeat and lack of games means that the hosts sit in 19th position with a 10 point cushion over the drop zone.

On the pitch, the hosts have managed a fairly decent points return of 11 from their last eight matches, a tally which at the very least keeps pace with the sides around them and keeps their head above water. Their problem, however, is that they can be really inconsistent and rarely follow up a good performance with another win in order to build some momentum.

The visitors are coming on strong

This weekend’s visitors to Spotland is a Coventry City side who have taken an impressive 23 points from 15 away matches, which is the third best tally in the division. The Sky Blues are currently top of the League One form table having taken 20 points from the last 24 available and given that they are currently second in the league on goal difference, they have plenty to play for this weekend.

The visitors boast the second best defensive record in the league with just 28 goals conceded from their 30 games and they know that if they can keep their opposition at bay once again this weekend, then they have an excellent opportunity of claiming top spot come 5pm on Saturday evening.

An away win looks to be the most likely

It is not a difficult prospect to suggest that the side who are joint top of the division and are the most in-form side in the league are well placed to earn another three points this weekend. Coventry are up against a side who blow hot and cold and one who could be a little rusty after their schedule was interrupted due to the bad weather. With this in mind, an away win looks to be the way to go.

In terms of a correct score tip, we think that there should be a pretty routine look to the scoreline. The hosts have the sixth worst offensive record in the division and have conceded an average of 1.36 goals per game at home. Given that the visitors are so in form right now and score an average of 1.53 goals per game on the road, a 2-0 away win looks likely.
