Roma vs Bologna Predictions
Can Roma bounce back in the league after disappointment last weekend? They fell off the pace in the race for the Scudetto after drawing 0-0 with relegation threatened Empoli. They failed to beat a side who now haven’t scored in eight league games. They may have claimed a midweek Europa League win, but they need to get back to business in Serie A.
Bologna are struggling, and they come into this game in 15th. They sit six points above the drop, but that cushion could disappear pretty quickly. Will they be pushed further towards the bottom three with a defeat in their trip to the capital? There is a lot to fear about a visit to this Roma team.
Roma have a perfect record at the Stadio Olimpico, winning all five of their league games here. They’ve hit 17 goals in the process, which is an incredible scoring return. They’re going to be itching to put things right after their slip last weekend, so expect them to come out firing. Their strong home record has kept them in the title race, and they can’t afford to mess that up either.
One thing to fear about Serie A’s second placed side is their in form forward. Edin Dzeko has been key to their recent good run. He’s hit 10 goals in 11 league games so far. He’s managed to score four times in three matches, while he’s scored twice in four of his last seven outings. That’s a scary record, up there with some of the best in the world.
The former Manchester City man bounced back from his Empoli misfire with two goals in the Europa League in midweek. He’s worth a look to continue that run here, bet365 make him 12/5 to score first, while he’s just 1/2 to score in 90 minutes.
Roma need to worry about their own defence. They may have kept a clean sheet last weekend, but we’ve mentioned how goal shy Empoli are. They’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in 60% of their matches at home. They concede 1.09 a game on average in the league, while their last two Europa League matches have seen them concede five in total.
Bologna have scored in 100% of their away games this season, and they’re likely to cause problems here. Roma may be in form, but that doesn’t make them solid at the back. They haven’t lost in their last eight, but they have one clean sheet in their last seven. They’ve suffered an injury crisis at the back which still isn’t over. Their results have been great in spite of that, but we’re backing them to concede again here. We’re tipping both teams to score in this one, at 4/5 with bet365.
