Roma vs Brighton Predictions
- Roma have won 13 of their 19 home games in all competitions
- Brighton have lost four of their last seven matches
- Five of Brighton’s last 12 outings have gone over 4.5 goals
Tough first European clash for Brighton
Brighton play the first knockout European match in their club’s history on Thursday and they do not come much more prestigious than visiting the Stadio Olimpico to take on Roma.
The Seagulls have been struggling in the build up to this clash however, injuries have been a major issue for them as they struggle to deal with a European campaign and they have now lost four of their last seven games in all competitions.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men face a Roma team that have improved under Daniele de Rossi, winning six and drawing two of their nine games under the new manager.
The hosts did need a penalty shootout to squeeze past Feyenoord in the knockout round but the Dutch side are having a strong campaign and are not to be underestimated.
Roma solid at home
Brighton were beaten 3-0 by Fulham at the weekend and don’t look at the level to compete with Roma away from home at this moment in time.
Albion would likely take a narrow defeat in this first leg to give them something to play for back at the Amex next week.
Roma have won 13 of their 19 home games in all competitions and should be too strong for their Premier League opponents.
This could end up being a high-scoring affair, five of Brighton’s last 12 games have gone over 4.5 goals and their open style of play can leave them vulnerable, side with a 3-2 win for the home team.
