Roma to Win and Under 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Roma have won seven of their last 10 Serie A games, including four of their last five at home. Meanwhile, Lazio have lost five of their last seven games in all competitions and are struggling for goals. The last four Rome derbies have featured one goal or fewer so this might be a low scoring win for the in-form hosts.

Roma 2-0

Reason for tip

Roma have scored two or more goals in five of their last seven home Serie A games and kept back-to-back clean sheets in the league. Lazio may struggle to break down a solid home side, as they did when losing 2-0 to Juventus in midweek.

De Rossi can deliver in Derby della Capitale

Daniele De Rossi currently looks like a good appointment for Roma and his standing could rise even further if he orchestrates a win over Lazio in Saturday’s derby della Capitale.

The Italian tactician has overseen nine wins, three draws and only two defeats since taking over from Jose Mourinho. One of De Rossi’s losses was against an Inter Milan side that are destined for the title and the other came against Brighton, who were 4-0 down from the first leg of a Europa League tie they could not win.

But his good start will count for nothing if Roma lose to Lazio, who brought Igor Tudor in after parting ways with Maurizio Sarri last month. Tudor’s side snatched a 1-0 win over Juventus in Serie A last weekend but come into this clash off the back of losing to the same side in Turin.

Lazio lack a cutting edge

That midweek Coppa Italia defeat, which means Lazio will end the campaign without silverware, was a reality check for those who were perhaps thinking Tudor could ‘do a De Rossi’.

I Biancoceleste lack a cutting edge up front with Ciro Immobile currently a shadow of his old predatory self and other key players struggling to contribute. Roma, on the other hand, have several players capable of conjuring up a goal when needed as Lorenzo Pellegrini did in their 1-0 win over Sassuolo earlier this month.

But Goals might be scarce in this matchup, which has produced three 1-0 wins and a 0-0 draw in the last four meetings. Roma have scored once and conceded only once in their last three games combined while Lazio have only that late winner against Juventus to show from their last two outings.
