Roma vs Pescara Predictions

Can Roma get their chase for the Scudetto back on track with a victory this weekend? They became the latest side to lose to in form Atalanta last Sunday, but they’ve got the perfect chance to bounce back here. The side from the capital have fallen seven points behind Juventus going into this weekend’s game, and they could find themselves a couple of places down, given how almost everyone plays before them.

Roma are up against a struggling Pescara side at the Stadio Olimpico, which is widely expected to be a straightforward win for the Italian giants. Is there any chance of a shock from the side fighting relegation? It’s hard to see them putting up too much of a fight here. They’re actually yet to record a victory this term, and it’s hard to see them landing a first win here.

While Pescara do have a win on record, those points were picked up by default. Their 3-0 defeat at Sassuolo was overturned when the home side were judged to have brought on an unregistered player as a sub. That decision has boosted their meagre points haul this season, and slightly improved their awful away record. After their troubles on their travels, this is the last place the Dolphins would want to be.

Roma currently boast a perfect home record in Serie A, they’ve taken 18 points from six games so far. Only Juventus have more points at home, and they’ve played an extra game in front of their own fans. To make that run even more impressive, the side from the Italian capital have done it in the middle of a defensive crisis. Their back-line has been plagued by injuries, something they’re just starting to get over.

Those injuries haven’t stopped the title challengers from recording an excellent defensive record in the early stages of the campaign. They’ve conceded just four times at home in Serie A, they average 0.67 goals against them per league match here. They’ve been blowing sides away at the other end, hitting 3.33 goals per home game on average. Their form at the Olimpico is something Juve would be proud of, it’s their away results which are causing problems.

Roma shouldn’t have too many issues here; they face a Pescara team who have found the net three times in six away games. they have little Serie A level quality in their team, and that’s seeing them struggle to get away from danger. They’re three points from safety, and it’s hard to see them clawing that back, especially this weekend. When you look at Roma’s great defensive record, and Pescara’s paltry attacking return, it’s easy to see a home clean sheet in this one. That’s why we’re backing the hosts to win to nil, which is priced at 5/4 with bet365.
