Roma vs Sassuolo Predictions
Roma did Serie A proud in Champions League action this week holding off Barcelona and battling for a hard earned 1-1 draw. In general, last season’s Serie A runners-up must be encouraged by the combination of poor starts from Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan, and their own strong form through the opening games. It looks like this is an improved outfit on one year ago.
Since being held to a draw at Verona in the season opener, Roma has picked up wins against Juventus and newly promoted Frosinone. Edin Dzeko brings quality to the midfield, while Roma might just be the Serie A team with the cutting edge up front to make a difference with Mohamed Salah and young Francesco Totti.
They are visited on Sunday by a side with an identical record through three games. Sassuolo have established themselves early on as no pushovers. They opened their season by beating Napoli, but were held by Atalanta in an eventful 90 minutes last weekend.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Roma quality
They’ve actually been quite reserved through the opening games controlling possession and creating lots of chances, but not scoring a lot of goals. They’re due a breakout performance and we think it might just happen against Sassuolo.
2. Prefer Goals market
The market on Roma winning doesn’t provide great odds and it’s hard to like a handicap that gives Roma a goal or more against a team that is playing good football. Sassuolo has scored five goals through three games and there has generally been plenty of goals in Serie A football. We like the chances of this game being a little back and forth and finishing with a few goals.
3. Don’t under-estimate Sassuolo
This is a good squad and a competitive team.
