      Rotherham vs AFC Wimbledon Predictions

      • AFC Wimbledon have the second worst away record in League 1 this season.
      • Only three teams have scored more home goals than Rotherham in League 1 this term.
      • AFC Wimbledon have scored and conceded more times than any other League 1 team this season.

      Magnificent Millers

Much as they did back in the 17/18 campaign, after a steady start, Rotherham have slowly but surely worked themselves into the promotion race. Only this time, Paul Warne’s men have become red-hot favourites for the title, as opposed to nestling in the chasing pack.

The Millers come into this match off the back of three consecutive wins, and it’s not as if they’ve beaten weak teams during that time either. Moreover, they have an excellent recent record at home of late, winning each of their last five at New York Stadium, scoring 13 and conceding just three in the process.

One slight concern ahead of this match is their less than satisfactory home record against bottom-half teams. Rotherham have won just three of their seven home games against such opposition, though we probably shouldn’t read too much into that, as they’ve improved greatly over the last few months have been in excellent form on their own patch.

      Inconsistency blighting Dons

Directly above the drop-zone, Wimbledon once against enter the last three months of a campaign in a poor position. Fortunately, thanks to the poor form of others, the Dons aren’t yet in immediate danger of going down. Six points separate them and the bottom three.

Since the end of November/start of December, Wimbledon have been seriously blighted by inconsistency, and inconsistency is why they’ve been unable to pull completely clear of the drop.

Away from home, the Dons have been a bit more consistent than they have at home, but not in a good way. Saturday’s visitors have lost three of their last five, as well as six of their last ten travelling matches. In total, they’ve lost 11 out of 14 on the road. Such a record does not inspire confidence ahead of a match against the league leaders.

      Can visitors compete?

Given what we’ve seen from this pair, both of late in general this term, it would well and truly be an upset if Wimbledon were to win. Quite frankly, the visitors aren’t likely to have enough to take anything from this match, but they might just be able to make their presence felt in the final third. Punters can profit by siding with ‘Rotherham to Win & Both Teams to Score’. After all, Wimbledon have scored in each of their six travelling matches against teams that currently reside in the top ten. They’ve lost each of those six. Plenty of teams have gone to New York Stadium and caused the hosts a few problems, but nobody has been able to leave with anything of late. Since Rotherham have outperformed Wimbledon in all areas this term, including goals for, goals against, shots for, shots against, touches inside the opposition box, shots on target for, shots on target against, the hosts looks a good bet to overpower their visitors on Saturday.
