Rotherham vs Birmingham Predictions
The Blues did suffer a real setback last weekend though. Leading fellow play-off contenders Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 going into the final 15 minutes at St Andrews, they let in 2 Gary Hooper goals in the space of 3 minutes and ended up losing 2-1 and as a result find themselves 3 points and 2 places off the top six.
They have bounced back well from adversity this season though and have a strong overall away record. The Blues have lost only 3 of their last 17 away games in the league, winning 8 of them including an impressive 3-0 win at Derby last month.
The New York Stadium isn’t a particularly tough place to go looking for success on the road and the Millers have lost 8 times at home in the league already this season including the last 2. Those were both damaging defeats in the shape of a 3-0 loss to QPR and 4-1 defeat against bottom club Charlton.
In fact their last two matches have both ended in defeat against the only two sides now below them in the league and they come into this game with confidence quite low you’d imagine. They have sacked manager Neil Redfearn since then and Neil Warnock is back in management and will take charge of this game but he faces a tough job in South Yorkshire. Gary Rowett will certainly be targeting 3 points here and with little separating the teams with the bookies here, consider backing Birmingham to win at 4/5 in the ‘draw no bet’ market.
It is a little surprising Birmingham aren’t shorter odds to win this given how poor Rotherham have been in the past few weeks and taking into account the strong season that the Blues are having. They’ve kept clean sheets in 7 of their last 14 on the road and backing a 2-0 away win might be the way to go here at 11/1.
