      Tip Reasoning

It has been a bizarre week or so in South Yorkshire. Rotherham won 2-0 at Birmingham last Saturday to make it back-to-back league wins following on from their victory over Cardiff the previous weekend. It lifted the Millers out of the relegation zone and all things seemed to be heading in the right direction. However by Monday manager Steve Evans had left the club after a 3 year spell where he had guided the club to the Championship and kept them there.

The timing more than anything was odd given he seemed to be getting things right on the pitch and it’s hard to know what sort of effect his departure will have had on the players although it’s unlikely to have been positive. Nobody can argue that Evans did anything but a good job and caretaker boss Eric Black will have a tough task maintaining that winning streak against Burnley here.

The Clarets have made a pretty solid start to life back in the Championship although they were beaten last weekend 2-1 at home by Reading. They sit in 7th place currently but would jump into 3rd with a point or more here although they’ll be keen to win with all the sides around them playing on Saturday.

This is the sort of game Burnley need to be winning if they are to be serious contenders for promotion and they certainly have the quality to cause an often shaky Rotherham defence some serious problems. With everything that has gone at the New York Stadium this week Rotherham’s players would be forgiven for taking their eye of this game to some extent at least and a well-drilled Burnley side look good value at 11/8 to come here and win.

The Lancashire club are fairly flexible in the tactics they employ and are capable of attacking sides as well as shutting up shop as they did effectively in the 0-0 draw with Derby a few weeks back. Here they are likely to be positive but once in front they might just look to keep things tight at the back and try to see out the game for their 2nd away win this term.

Therefore consider backing a 1-0 win for the visitors at 6/1 and the Millers to get life without Steve Evans off to a poor start.
