Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Seven of Rotherham’s last nine games have contained under 2.5 goals, as have five of the last seven matches to feature Millwall. The hosts, meanwhile, have only conceded eight times in the Championship this season, the division’s third-best record.

Rotherham vs Millwall Predictions

  • Rotherham United have seen under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine matches.
  • Rotherham have conceded just eight goals in their 10 Championship games this season – only two teams have conceded fewer.
  • Millwall have seen under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven matches.

Solid Millers bid to bounce back

Rotherham United have now failed to win or score in back-to-back Championship matches, although the visit of out-of-shape Millwall may represent a good opportunity for them to end that run. At the time of writing, Exeter City’s Matt Taylor looks the most likely man to take over from Paul Warne at the New York Stadium, but regardless of whether he is in place by Wednesday, goals are not expected.

Indeed, the Millers have conceded just eight times in the Championship this season – fewer than everyone except Preston North End and Sheffield United in the second tier. Seven of Rotherham’s last nine games have contained under 2.5 goals, as have five of their seven home matches this term.

Millwall, meanwhile, have posted five defeats in their last seven matches, and have a dire travelling record. Indeed, the Lions have recorded one draw and five losses in their six away games in all competitions this season, failing to score on four of those outings. Gary Rowett’s team have not seen their attacking woes limited to their travels, however – five of their last seven matches have contained under 2.5 goals.

Tight affair likely

Given the poor attacking records of both Rotherham and Millwall, as well as the hosts’ solid defensive returns, backing under 2.5 match goals appears a prudent play for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Millwall’s dismal away run means a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Rotherham may offer value as a correct score play.
