Port Vale Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

Rotherham won only five of their final 18 games in League One last season, triumphing in only three of their final nine fixtures at the New York Stadium. Vale will be riding a high after last season’s promotion and can avoid defeat.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

A 1-1 draw is what appeals most from a correct-score perspective and Vale played out for score draws in four of their final nine League Two outings, three of which ended that way.

      Rotherham vs Port Vale Predictions

      • Vale won seven of their final 11 games in League Two last season
      • Rotherham won only five of their final 18 games last term
      • Vale have lost only two of their last nine meetings with Rotherham

Millers may take time to hit the straps

Port Vale bounced back to League One at the first time of asking as they won seven of their final 11 games in League Two last season to chase home Doncaster in second.

Consolidation will now be key for manager Darren Moore and, having lost only six of their 23 away games in League Two last season, they may be able to start on a strong note at Rotherham.

Vale have a clear identity under Moore while Rotherham are getting prepared for a first full campaign with Matt Hamshaw and last season was underwhelming as they finished 13th on 59 points.

The Millers won only five of their final 18 games last season, triumphing in only three of their final nine fixtures at the New York Stadium.

That included home defeats to relegated duo Crawley and Shrewsbury and there is a sense that they may take time to find their stride, especially following the departures of Hakeem Odoffin, Jonson Clarke-Harris and Andre Green.

Vale have lost only two of their last nine meetings with Rotherham and they may be able to frustrate the Millers, who won only 16 of their 46 games last season.

A 1-1 draw is what appeals most from a correct-score perspective and Vale played out for score draws in four of their final nine League Two outings, three of which ended that way.
