Rotherham vs QPR Predictions

Queens Park Rangers saw their push for the top six take a bit of a hit at the weekend. They drew 2-2 at Stoke, which left them ninth in the Championship standings. They’re now four points shy of the top six, but could that gap be about to grow? They head to Rotherham next, and with a gulf between them in the table the R’s have been made the favourites to win here. However, we’re not convinced that QPR will have such an easy time of things here, despite the eight points and 10 places which separate them.

The hosts have managed to build up some strong form at home of late, and they are aiming to continue to pick up points and stay clear of danger. Another draw on Saturday has left them in 19th place, and they sit two points clear of the drop. The Millers have been able to keep themselves clear of danger for most of the campaign, despite starting the season among the favourites for the drop. They’ve been underestimated from the start of the season, and they’re hoping that’s going to be the case again on Tuesday.

QPR have managed to turn things around after a rocky start, which has lifted them into the top half. They go in search of another three points in this visit to the New York Stadium, aiming to widen the gap between themselves and Rotherham. Given the low point which Steve McClaren’s side hit earlier this season, staying up has to be their minimum aim. League One looked like a real possibility back when they were being hammered 7-1 by West Brom, and we can see Rangers getting a point here to keep themselves away from trouble.

However, it’s tough to back them for much more than a point. In fact, we can’t quite understand why the visitors have been priced up as favourites here. They have middling away form, with just three wins from nine so far. They’ve picked up a point from their last two trips, and they head to a Rotherham side who are looking strong at their own ground.

The hosts have lost just once in their last nine, and they have gone six games unbeaten. Overall this season, they’ve lost just once in nine home matches. Saturday’s draw with Sheffield United made it seven games without defeat at home, and we expect them to match a QPR side who are in mixed form on their travels. That has us backing Rotherham Double Chance, and a 1-1 draw.
