Sandefjord vs Tromso Predictions

Miserly visitors face up-and-down Sandefjord

While Sandefjord and Tromso are only separated by goal difference in the bottom half of the Norwegian Eliteserien, the duo have had markedly different campaigns, making Sunday’s contest a difficult one to call. For all that the hosts have been erratic, the visitors have been consistent if uninspiring, drawing four consecutive games ahead of their trip to face Hans Erik Odegaard and Andreas Tegstrom’s men.

Indeed, Tromso have drawn five of their last six games, not losing any, despite facing difficult opponents in Viking, leaders Lillestrom and reigning champions Bodo/Glimt. Gaute Helstrup’s men have only conceded more than one goal once in their last six outings, but have struggled going forwards, seeing under 2.5 goals scored in five of those six clashes. While their solid rearguard has seen Tromso pick up points from tough-looking encounters, they are yet to win on the road this season, posting one defeat and three draws.

Sandefjord, on the other hand, have followed up a three-match losing run with consecutive wins, with their tendency to oscillate between the sublime and ridiculous demonstrated by a 5-0 win over Stromsgodset being followed by three defeats in which they shipped 10 goals. They are yet to win a home league game this term, one of just two outfits to possess such a record (alongside bottom club Kristiansund) and as such, do not look worth backing for victory.

Mid-table rivals may cancel each other out

While some punters may be unaccustomed to backing the draw, it appears the best play for this clash when taking into account the visitors’ penchant for a stalemate as well as Sandefjord and Tromso’s respective failures to earn a home or away win this term.

Meanwhile, the hosts have not failed to score at home despite their troubles there this term, while Tromso have seen goals at both ends in each of their last four games, making 1-1 a prudent correct score play.
