Subpar Sao Paulo

The current champions travel to the Cierco Pompeu de Toledo Stadium hoping they can extend their unbeaten run to six matches against Sao Paulo.

It’s been a pretty miserable campaign for Sao Paulo in all honesty. The six-time league champions have only finished outside of the top 10 of the Serie A once since 2006 and it looks as though that will happen for the second time this season. Hernan Crespo was out of his depth and he was often found wanting when it came to tactical creativity. Under new boss, and former keeper, Rogerio Ceni, they have looked much more organised defensively but they are in a worse position than when Crespo left.

Their chances of securing a third successive league title is not impossible, but it does look extremely unlikely given they would have to overcome an 11 point deficit within the eight remaining games. They’ve shown star quality as well as heart, last time out against Bahia, they were reduced to ten men but still managed to obtain an important victory.

Flamengo’s attacking talent to win it

Flamengo have real quality in attack and this is something that Sao Paulo have severely lacked this season. If any of these two sides come out with a win, it is more than likely going to be the away side as they have the tools to break through this improved Sao Paulo backline. We think Flamengo draw no bet is the play here, to offer some security. A 2-0 away win wouldn’t be at all surprising.
