Sao Paulo vs Juventude Predictions

Take Tricolor to tear Juventude to pieces  

Sao Paulo should return to winning ways in the Brasileirao when they host basement club Juventude at the Morumbi this weekend. Tricolor Paulista went down 1-0 to leaders Palmeiras last weekend, but gained a measure of revenge by beating the same club 1-0 in the first-leg of their Brazilian cup tie in midweek.

Rogerio Ceni’s side were unbeaten for 15 games prior to a surprise 1-0 loss at Botafogo earlier this month and look capable of embarking on a similar run of results in the next few weeks.

Juventude have lost their last four league games, including their last two on the road, and have conceded multiple goals in each of them. In possession of comfortably the worst defensive record in Serie A, Juventude have shipped five goals more than the next weakest defence and this doesn’t look like much of an opportunity to rectify that statistic.

Prolific Patrick on a purple patch

The odds-on quote for the hosts can be enlarged without too much added risk by taking Sao Paulo to win with at least two goals in the game – seeing as though Juventude look capable of conceding twice to any team they face right now.

Sao Paulo’s Patrick provides another opportunity for value seekers to latch onto after the midfielder hit a purple patch in front of goal. Three goals in his last four appearances make his anytime quote of around 9/2 look absurd given the level of defending he is likely to face.

Our forecast of a 2-0 home win could be a touch conservative given Juventude’s woes, but Sao Paulo have only scored more than twice in one of their six prior home Serie A contests.
