Scotland vs Morocco Predictions
- Morocco haven’t lost in 38 matches, winning 31 of those
- Scotland lost to Japan and the Ivory Coast in their opening matches of 2026
- Haiti were able to create 1.05 xG against Scotland in their opener
- Brahim Diaz was AFCON top scorer with five goals
Scotland pass their first test
Scotland successfully navigated their opening game of the World Cup, surviving some nervy moments to secure a 1-0 victory over Haiti. That was their first victory at the finals since 1990, and that alone could be enough to secure a spot in the knockout stages thanks to the tournament’s new format.
Up next for Steve Clarke’s side are clashes with Morocco and Brazil, sides they lost to as they exited at the group stage in France 28 years ago.
Another point would all but guarantee Scotland a place in the knockouts, but they face a much trickier test against the 2022 semi-finalists.
Morocco extend unbeaten run
Morocco haven’t lost a game since exiting the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024, a run which has now stretched to a record 38 matches.
They were the stronger side in their 1-1 draw with Brazil in their opener, and they look capable of another deep run in this competition.
Morocco qualified with eight wins from eight in qualifying, and they claimed seven points from their three group games at AFCON in December. While Scotland have won three straight games, they fell to defeats to Japan and the Ivory Coast to begin 2026. This is the biggest test that Clarke’s side have faced since securing their spot at the World Cup, and they’re backed to fall short.
Diaz to star for Morocco
Brahim Diaz missed the penalty that would have secured the Africa Cup of Nations for Morocco following Senegal’s protests, and that brought a dismal end to a great tournament for the Real Madrid forward.
After that penalty miss, Diaz didn’t score again for club or country until the final round of La Liga action. He had scored in five of his previous six AFCON games ahead of the final, and the strike against Athletic Bilbao seems to have boosted his confidence.
Diaz scored in a warm-up clash with Norway before assisting their opener against Brazil. The AFCON top scorer had three shots in their opener, and he can add to his 15 international goals.
