Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both of these teams need to pick themselves up after disappointing at the Euros and that should ensure they are positive as they search for a strong start to the Nations League. Both of them look capable of netting at Hampden Park.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Five of the last six meetings have finished level, so a 1-1 correct-score prediction looks tempting in a match between two teams with plenty to prove.

Scotland vs Poland Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in eight of Poland’s last ten matches
  • Scotland have won just one of their last 12 matches
  • Five of the last six meetings have been draws

Clarke’s boys need to drag themselves out of a rut

Scotland have had a few months to reflect on yet another group-stage exit at the major international tournament, and manager Steve Clarke will need a strong start to the Nations League campaign to solidify his position in the job.

A 5-1 opening defeat against hosts Germany virtually ended their chances of gaining a place in the knockout round and, once again, they were unable to generate enough chances when they needed them in their final game against Hungary and were beaten by a late goal on the break.

But their summer exploits only tell part of the story, with their solitary win in their last 12 matches came in a 2-0 win against lowly Gibraltar.

Tough draw should ensure pair are positive

They have a tough-looking group in the Nations League and, with Portugal and Croatia favourites for the group, an opening game against Poland at Hampden looks the easiest of their six ties.

That should ensure they get onto the front foot and the Poles, who also failed to make the knockout stage after a 1-1 closing draw with France came too late, have to be positive too.

Both teams have found the net in eight of Poland’s last ten matches and, with neither side reliable enough to support in the 90-minute market, preference is for the visitors and their Hampden hosts to at least find the net in their opening clash.
