Inter Milan vs Udinese Predictions

• Inter have won four of their last five home league games to nil – all of those five fixtures have finished with a 1-0 scoreline.
• Udinese, meanwhile, have seen each of their last three away games finish 1-0, losing two.

Nerazzurri flattering to deceive?

While Inter are obvious favourites to seal a top-four finish in Serie A after a run of six wins in nine league games, Monday’s goalless draw at struggling Sampdoria showed why Simone Inzaghi’s men will not chase down Napoli at the summit. Inter dominated possession and managed 25 shots to Samp’s seven without breaking through, and things are expected to be tight once again when they meet Udinese on Saturday – the Zebrette, however, may not quite be able to stand firm.

Each of Inter’s last five home league games have finished with a 1-0 scoreline, four of them in the Nerazzuri’s favour. Inter have an exceptional record on their own turf this campaign, winning nine of their 11 home matches and only conceding five times in Serie A. Inzaghi’s men have managed five clean sheets in their last seven outings, never conceding multiple goals in that run, and while they may not have thrilled going forward of late, their defensive solidity makes them clear favourites here.

Udinese, meanwhile, have only won one of their last 15 matches – against struggling Sampdoria. The Zebrette are also on a curious run of 1-0 scorelines, with a single goal deciding their last three away games, two of which have ended in defeat. Sampdoria – the worst attacking outfit in Europe’s top five leagues – are the only team Andrea Sottil’s men have shut out since October, so Inter should get more joy than they did last time out.

Another shutout win beckons

Four of Inter’s last five wins across all competitions have been to nil, and given their outstanding defensive record at San Siro, we expect more of the same against out-of-form Udinese.

However, Inter have not exactly been free-flowing going forwards recently, so the visitors may succeed in limiting them to a narrow one-goal victory.
