Sevilla building momentum at last?

After a wretched four or five months, it looks like Sevilla are finally beginning to get going, winning five of their eight matches since the World Cup.

Four of those victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet, including a 1-0 success against relegation threatened Cadiz in their last outing at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

That has helped Jorge Sampaoli’s side pull clear of the relegation zone, and he will now be hoping to build on back-to-back home wins, which come after a run of seven outings there without a victory.

Elche in dire straits

Elche on the other hand are sinking further and further away from safety, as they remain winless after 18 La Liga fixtures.

Six of those games have ended all-square, but they have also suffered a dozen defeats, eight of them without scoring.

Pablo Machín’s side also have a shocking record away from home, failing to pick up a single victory in 11 league matches on the road, with six of those ending in a defeat to nil.
