Sevilla vs Malaga Predictions
This is usually a fiercely competitive game between the two sides that regularly compete to be the pride of the Andalusian region. A bit of extra spice is added with Juande Ramos, the man who started Sevilla’s most successful era a decade ago, now back in charge of Malaga and with both teams going well right now, it promises to be a good game.
Sevilla will temporarily at least move above Barcelona into 2nd place if they win this and given their home record this term you’d expect them to do just that. They’ve won 86% of their home games in La Liga, only dropping points on one occasion. Their average of 2.57 points per home game is the best in La Liga and with Malaga averaging just 0.57 points per game on the road, where they are yet to record a victory, a home win certainly looks the most likely outcome.
However, those stats don’t quite tell the full picture in what should be a close game. Only one of Sevilla’s six home wins have been by a margin of more than one goal and they’ve won several games in the dying minutes. Both teams have scored in 71% of Sevilla’s home league games and 73% of their matches overall so they are a side that gives their opponents a chance and Malaga don’t need much invitation right now.
Malaga have scored 1.6 goals per game on average this season, a big improvement on last term when that figure was exactly 1. They’ve hit 16 goals in their last 7 league games with former Barca man Sandro in great form up front so they have the tools to grab a goal here and both teams have scored in 67% of their matches this season.
Therefore, certainly the stats point to goals at both ends but it’s hard to look past a home win given how strong Sevilla are at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. Therefore, backing Sevilla to win & both teams to score at 21/10 looks a cracking bet.
