Sevilla vs Mallorca Predictions
- Sevilla’s last two games have finished 1-0 and 2-0 with a stoppage-time goal in the latter
- Fewer than two goals have been scored in each of Mallorca’s last five league games
- Fewer than two goals have been scored in three of the last four head-to-head meetings
Mallorca intend to make their point on Monday
Mallorca will go in search of a point at Estadio Sanchez-Pizjuan on Monday night and Sevilla’s recent home inconsistency suggests Javier Aguirre’s side can achieve their objective.
Los Pirates are still licking their wounds from the Copa Del Rey Final defeat on penalties to Athletic Bilbao earlier this month. But they are only six points clear of the relegation zone and another defeat in as timid a fashion as their 1-0 home reverse to much-changed Real Madrid side last weekend would bring back a few jitters.
Mallorca have avoided defeat in three of their last five away games and their formula is simple – stop the opposition from scoring. It seems likely that will be the crux of their plan again on Monday while strikers Vedat Muriqi (one league goal since September), Abdon Prats (no league goal since November) and Cyle Larin (no league goal since January) fumble around up front.
Goals unlikely to flow in Andalusia
Back-to-back away wins for Sevilla have seen Quique Sánchez Flores’ team dispel the ghosts of a possible relegation, but their home performances have been wildly inconsistent. Solid victories against Real Sociedad and Atlético Madrid are overshadowed by the defeats against Alaves, Athletic Bilbao and Celta Vigo.
Flores’ side has won twice as many away games as at home and cannot be fully trusted to put away a sulking Mallorca even if one goal might be enough to do it.
Backing fewer than two goals in the game might be worth the risk here as Mallorca are churning out such results with regularity and Sevilla were a matter of seconds away from a second 1-0 win in a row before a goalkeeper fumble handed them a second at Las Palmas last weekend.
