Reason For Sevilla vs Mallorca Predictions

  • Sevilla are unbeaten in their last 11 La Liga fixtures.
  • Both teams have scored in only 14 of Real Mallorca’s 35 league matches this term.
  • Mallorca have lost four of their last five matches by at least two goals.

Sevilla look sharper since return to action

The break in the La Liga season appears to have done Sevilla the world of good with the Andalusians on course for a top-four berth and place in the Champions League next season.

Julen Lopetegui‘s men are yet to lose since the league’s resumption, winning four and drawing four of their eight matches after the restart, and they should be fancied to overcome relegation-threatened Real Mallorca.

Mallorca have given themselves a shot at survival with a 5-1 hammering of Celta Vigo and 2-0 defeat of Levante recently but sandwiched between those games was a 3-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid, a reminder that they struggle to create opportunities against the league’s stronger sides.

Mallorca shot-shy against stronger opposition

In Ante Budimir and Takefusa Kubo, they have two dangerous operators in attack but they have fired blanks against Barcelona, Villarreal, Real Madrid and Atletico since returning to action.

They have also lost away to other high-flying outfits Valencia, Getafe, Barcelona and Real Sociedad this season and have claimed only five league wins since November.

That does not bode well going into a contest with Sevilla, who have been reliant on their rock-hard defence for results recently.

Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos have been mainstays at the heart of their defence this term and the pair have helped the club earn clean sheets against rivals Real Betis, Barcelona, Leganes and Eibar since the restart.

Win to nil on the cards for Sevilla

In fact, eight of the club’s previous ten league victories have been to nil and that could be the best match prediction for the encounter at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

While a reliable group of defenders has helped Sevilla string together positive results, they have also been able to count on a range of midfielders for goals, from Oliver Torres to winger Lucas Ocampos, who has netted 13 times in La Liga this term and can spearhead their attack against Mallorca.

With that in mind and considering that their league matches have featured an average of 2.43 goals per game this term, punters should anticipate Lopetegui’s side winning by a comfortable margin and 2-0 could be the way to go in terms of a correct score.

They have beaten Espanyol, Getafe, Mallorca, Granada and Real Betis by that scoreline this season and could nudge Mallorca closer to the drop.
