Shamrock Rovers to Win

Reason for tip

This is a dead-rubber tie as both sides have been eliminated but with home advantage Shamrock can at least sign off with a win. Rovers won 12 of their 18 home domestic league games and have picked up some decent results on Irish soil in Europe, while Malta’s Hamrun have four defeats in five league phase games and have failed to score in all of those losses.

Shamrock Rovers 1-0

Reason for tip

Goals could be in short supply as Hamrun haven’t scored more on their travels in the Conference League and all three of their strikes in this competition came in one game. Rovers have four goals in their five games in the Conference League and have only scored more than once in one of their last 10 games, so a 1-0 home win has a chance.

Shamrock Rovers vs Hamrun Spartans Predictions

Shamrock can sign off with a win

Shamrock Rovers host Malta’s Hamrun in the final round of league phase fixtures on Thursday in a clash where both sides already know their fate.

Rovers have already been eliminated with just one point to show from five games so far, Hamrun’s exit has also been guaranteed as they have four defeats and one win.

This game may be a dead-rubber, but Shamrock have a chance to at least restore a bit if pride by enduring they record one win and with home advantage they should be able to get the job done.

Rovers were excellent at home in their domestic league with 12 wins in 18 games. They’ve also enjoyed some success in Europe as they held Portugal’s Santa Clara to a draw in Ireland during qualifying and impressed in defeat to big guns Shakhtar as they lost by just one goal.

Hamrun have lost both of their European trips without scoring and are in poor form overall with three defeats in five games. There is little incentive for the visitors other than pride given then have a league phase win to their name, against Gibraltar’s Lincoln, so Shamrock should be able to get three points on the board in their final European game of the season.

Goals could be in short supply as Hamrun haven’t scored more on their travels in the Conference League and all three of their strikes in this competition came in one game. Rovers have four goals in their five games in the Conference League and have only scored more than once in one of their last 10 games, so a 1-0 home win has a chance.
