PAOK Thessaloniki to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Shamrock will struggle to overturn this four goal deficit and, with just two wins from their last nine across all competitions, could fall to yet another defeat.

PAOK Thessaloniki 2-0

Reason for tip

Three of Shamrock’s last four home matches have seen winners in the under 2.5 goals market while PAOK were also held to a lower-scoring affair in their recent 2-0 win over Panetolikos. A 2-0 away victory looks a tempting bet, particularly given that the visitors have scored at least twice in each of their last five in all competitions.

Shamrock Rovers vs PAOK Thessaloniki Predictions

  • Shamrock have only qualified for the group stages of two UEFA competitions this century
  • PAOK are on a three match winning streak across all competitions
  • The Greeks ran out 4-0 winners in the first leg

PAOK to cruise to group stages as Shamrock slump

A dominant first leg display at the Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki saw PAOK romp to a 4-0 first leg victory over Shamrock Rovers and, while a repeat of this dominance may be unlikely, the Greeks could secure their place in the next round in style by claiming the win once again.

Razvan Locescu’s men have been in decent form as of late with three wins from their last three matches in all competitions while they have also avoided defeat in both of their two away legs of European football this season – a 1-0 win at Borac Banja Luka followed by a 2-2 draw in Malmo.

Shamrock have had a turbulent time of things this season – with their League of Ireland title defence seeing them ten points behind league leaders Derry City – and Rovers have also won just two of their last nine across all competitions.

The Irish side rarely qualify for UEFA tournaments and a four goal deficit looks to tall of a hurdle to overcome on Thursday. PAOK will feel like their job is already done and so a low-scoring encounter could be in store, with the visitors potentially edging to a 2-0 win.
