Shandong Luneng vs Jiangsu Suning Predictions
Shandong Luneng can’t move any higher in the CSL table this weekend, but victory over fifth placed Jiangsu Suning would improve their grip on fourth spot. The visitors arrive having just been beaten by Shandong Luneng in the FA Cup in midweek, so will be keen to have their revenge over Saturday’s hosts in the CSL and take the two clubs onto level points.
Goals from Fellaini, Gil, and Hao Junmin proved enough for Shandong Luneng to claim all three points at home against Guangzhou R&F in the CSL last weekend, despite their guests having 61% of the possession and creating plenty of goal scoring opportunities of their own. Jiangsu Suning went two goals up away at Hebei CFFC through Li Ang and Teixeira, only to concede three goals in the first half and lose the game 3-2. The visitors really should have taken something from the match, but were punished for their poor finishing in the second half. In midweek a solitary strike from substitute Pellè proved enough to settle a tight and tense FA Cup tie in favour of the visiting side Shandong Luneng, a result that will surely give the hosts plenty of confidence heading into Saturday’s CSL match.
The recent head to head record between these two clubs and their performances across league and cup over the last month, all points towards both teams scoring on Saturday and Shandong Luneng claiming all three points. Both teams have scored in four of the last five encounters between the two clubs, Shandong Luneng have won three of their last six matches, and Shandong Luneng beat Jiangsu Suning on Wednesday in the FA Cup. Five of Shandong Luneng’s last six matches have seen both teams score, while four of Jiangsu Suning’s last five matches have seen both teams score. The hosts have won four of their last six matches in all competitions, while their guests have lost their last two matches in league and cup, and that’s why we’re backing a 2-1 win for Shandong Luneng on Saturday.
Pellè top scores for the hosts this season with nine league goals, while Teixeira, who also has nine goals to his name, leads the way for Jiangsu Suning. We’re confident that both teams will score on Saturday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 to Shandong Luneng. The hosts have a good recent record against their guests and head into the game as the clear form favourites. Both teams have been involved in a large number of matches that have ended with both teams scoring, so we’re expecting more of the same this weekend.
