Sheffield United vs Burnley Predictions
- Sheffield United’s last seven home games have gone over 3.5 goals
- Burnley have drawn three of their last five matches
- Sheffield United have drawn 2-2 twice in their last five outings
High-scoring affair fancied between strugglers
Burnley and Sheffield United have been basement boys for much of the Premier League season and they are running out of time if either of them are to pull themselves out of the relegation mire.
The Blades in particular need to win this clash between what was the runaway top two in the Championship last season.
Chris Wilder’s men have struggled at home however and their tally of ten points from 16 matches at Bramall Lane is the worst in the top flight.
Defending has been their primary issue at home, they have conceded 47 times in their own back yard, ten more than the Clarets in second place.
Nevertheless it’s hard to fancy Vincent Kompany’s side to win this on the road and the safer play may be a high-scoring clash.
Sheffield United’s last seven Premier League home games have all gone over 3.5 goals and with both teams struggling defensively, a repeat of that looks likely.
Side with a score draw at Bramall Lane
Burnley have put in some decent performances recently, losing just one of their last six games, but they have only won one too and an entertaining stalemate looks the likeliest result here.
The reverse fixture was a 5-0 home win for the Clarets, a rare day of positives in their dismal season, but the Blades have not been as bad as that recently.
The hosts have managed to hold Chelsea, Bournemouth and Fulham to stalemates in their last five matches and may be able to repeat the trick here.
Given the defensive weakness of both sides and the fact that they both need a victory to give themselves any real chance of securing Premier League safety, an open game is predicted.
The Blades have conceded a whopping 84 times in 32 games but they have also netted eight times in their last five outings.
Five of Burnley’s last seven away games in the Premier League have ended with both teams scoring so expect both sides to get on the scoresheet in what should be an end-to-end relegation six pointer.
McBurnie could star
Over 3.5 goals is the main selection but correct score backers should side with a 2-2 draw, something that has happened in two of both teams’ last five games.
Oli McBurnie has netted twice in his last four league matches and could get on the scoresheet again here in what may be an enthralling matchup between two poor defences.
