Sheffield United To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Sheffield United have won four of their last five Championship matches and should beat rock-bottom Town at home. The Blades have kept clean sheets in three of their last five games while Huddersfield have failed to score in two of their last three away league contests.

Sheffield United 3-0

Reason for tip

The Blades scored five against Burnley in early November and have registered an impressive 22 goals in 10 home games to date. The Terriers are shipping an average of just less than two per game on their travels, but have conceded exactly three in two of their last six road games.

Sheffield United vs Huddersfield Predictions

  • Sheffield United have won four of their last five Championship matches.
  • The Blades have kept clean sheets in three of their last five games.
  • Huddersfield have failed to score in two of their last three away league contests.

Blades can cut loose against shot-shy Terriers

Sheffield United can go level on points at the top of the Championship table by recording a comfortable win over rock-bottom Huddersfield when action resumes at Bramall Lane on Saturday The Blades should not lose this opportunity to close up on leaders Burnley and are worthy of support in the ‘win to nil’ market as Huddersfield do not appear to have solved any of their scoring problems during the break.

Paul Heckingbottom’s men have the best defensive record in the division when measured on a goals conceded per game basis and will have little to worry about from a Terriers side that does not shoot anywhere near often enough. That issue was clear in the first half of the campaign when Town produced the third-lowest number of shots and ranked similarly for xG.

The Blades, by comparison, were shooting on average 50% more per game and producing the division’s best xG cumulative number. They also faced the fourth-fewest shot total and the second-fewest number of strikes that were on target.

Town fans will doubt their scoring prospects

The evidence of Huddersfield’s recent friendly against Olympiacos, in which they were totally dominated by the Greek side in the attacking third, suggests little has changed for Mark Fotheringham’s men. Town have failed to score in two of their last three away league contests and even their most ardent supporters will have doubts about their ability to get on the scoresheet this Saturday.

Hence the ‘win to nil’ recommendation and a 3-0 correct score play could also be profitable here as the Blades, who scored five against Burnley in early November, have registered an impressive 22 goals in 10 home games to date. Huddersfield are shipping an average of just less than two per game on their travels, but have conceded exactly three in two of their last six road games.

Further fun can be had with a bet on Oli McBurnie to score at anytime as the in-form Blades marksman is reportedly fit and firing – having struck nine times in his last 14 appearances, of which 11 were starts.
