      Sheffield Wednesday vs Brighton Predictions

Wednesday are flying under Carlos Carvalhal and after a long barren run, few would begrudge their supporters a successful team to cheer on. This is their 4th game in a row, where they don’t need to leave South Yorkshire and whatever their match preparations are at the moment, they are certainly working.

A derby win at Rotherham was followed up by that 3-0 Capital One Cup shock against Arsenal and another home win at the weekend against Nottingham Forest. They are now unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions and will be confident of extending that here even though they are up against Brighton, the league leaders.

The Seagulls are yet to lose in what has been an excellent Championship campaign for them so far. Even faced with a difficult away game at Reading on Saturday, they managed to come out with a point.

Their matches this season have all been close affairs, settled by at most 1 goal. Both teams have netted in 5 of their last 6 matches and in 7 of their last 8 away games.

Meanwhile prior to Sheffield Wednesday’s 1-0 win over a shot-shy Nottingham Forest side on Saturday, both teams had netted in all of the previous 5 league games at Hillsborough too.

Both managers will think they can win this and Chris Hughton will be a little concerned that his side’s lead at the top has been closed to just 2 points by back-to-back draws while their main rivals have won. Therefore we should see a reasonably open game and the stats certainly back up the idea that both teams will score here, something you can back at 10/11.

A draw is perhaps the most likely outcome though and would further extend the long unbeaten runs of these two clubs. 5 of the last 12 Championship matches at Hillsborough have finished 1-1 and Brighton have already drawn two away games this season 1-1 including their most recent game on Saturday.

Therefore a repeat here would be no surprise and can be backed at odds of 5/1.
