Sheffield Wednesday vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
The home side are certainly the form team. Wednesday are unbeaten in their last 9 matches and are looking to complete an outstanding week here which started with a derby win at Rotherham prior to a thumping 3-0 Capital One Cup victory over Arsenal.
For the first time in years there is a real buzz around Hillsborough and a home game with Nottingham Forest is always one that attracts a healthy crowd given the relative proximity of the two clubs.
Wednesday are looking for a 7th win in 9 matches here and one that would move them to the brink of the top six. By contrast Forest are struggling down in 17th and haven’t won any of their last 6 matches. They’ve been reasonably solid away from home, losing just twice this season so they aren’t a complete lost cause by any means but their last match on the road was a very poor 2-0 loss at Bristol City and they needed a 90th minute equaliser to rescue a point from their last game at home to Ipswich.
Therefore you have to fancy a home win here and you can back that to be the case at 11/10. The hosts have had 4 days to recover from the Arsenal game, which was a relative cruise in the end in any case so tiredness shouldn’t be an issue for them.
Only two clubs have scored fewer goals this season in the Championship than Nottingham Forest and Wednesday have looked solid at the back in a few of their tougher recent games.
Therefore a 2-0 home wins looks like good value at 8/1 in this game.
