We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Draw 1-1 @ 11/2

Reason For Sheffield Wednesday vs Reading Predictions

  • Sheffield Wednesday have won once across their last 9 matches.
  • Reading have been beaten in just 1 of their last 10 trips.
  • Wednesday are on a 3-game run without scoring at home, taking 1 point from their last 4 here.
  • The visitors have lost 3 of their last 17 matches.

Chance for Reading?

The Royals have seen their great stretch of form fade away, which has left them struggling for victories of late. In midweek, Reading were beaten 2-1 at home to West Brom leaving them in 16th place.

Now the Royals are just nine points clear of the drop as they head into this weekend’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls are on the slide themselves, having dropped down to 12th after pushing for the playoffs. Can either side return to form with a victory here?

Wednesday’s Drifting Ambitions

The hosts are already starting to get disgruntled with Garry Monk, who only arrived at the club this season. He did get an immediate shot in the arm with some good results, but overall it’s been a mixed bag for the former Birmingham boss. He had more time at the club than Steve Bruce, but the former boss did inspire a late-season surge towards the playoffs.

This time around, Wednesday are going in the opposite direction. They’ve fallen out of the top six and could yet slip out of the top half, having suffered from a dreadful run of results. The hosts have won just once in their last nine league games, with a solitary win over a Leeds side who are falling apart their only success in that spell. The owls are winless in five, which could offer a way in for Reading.

Unspectacular Royals

Reading aren’t pulling up any trees on their travels, but their away record so far has been quite good. They’ve lost only once across their last 10 trips in all competitions. So far this term, the Royals have lost only five times in 16 trips, giving them a solid away record. Meanwhile, the Owls have taken a point from their last four at home, failing to score in their last three.

With the Owls out of form, Reading’s impressive away record should continue. We are backing the visitors to pull something off here, after losing only three of their last 17 matches. Following that form we are going with Reading Double Chance as our prediction in this one. We’re also backing a 1-1 draw here, which has landed in four of Reading’s last seven.
