Goals Expected at Hillsborough

No team has shipped more goals in the Championship this season than the 56 goals Sheffield Wednesday have conceded, and over 2.5 goals is the bet when they host Wrexham at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Wrexham, who are sixth in the Championship, are 18 places above rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday. The hosts have won just once and lost 19 of their 28 games this season, while Wrexham have 11 wins, 11 draws and seven defeats.

Sheffield Wednesday have gone 22 Championship games without winning and last tasted victory at home in the league over 16 games ago. Wrexham, meanwhile, were 3-2 winners against QPR last weekend and are on a run of three straight successes on their travels.

Wrexham will be buzzing after beating QPR 3-2 last weekend to keep up their recent pattern of games with over 2.5 goals. They will have been happy with the three points having been priced at 2/1 to win the game.

Over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in eight of Sheffield Wednesday’s 15 Championship home games this season.

The hosts have looked vulnerable at the back, with Sheffield Wednesday failing to keep a clean sheet in 18 of their last 20 Championship games. They have conceded 56 goals this season – an average of two per game from 28 matches.

With seven of Wrexham’s 11 Championship victories this season coming by a one-goal margin, a 2-1 win for the visitors looks a decent correct-score option. Seven of the last nine Wrexham games have produced three goals or more.
